VirtualBox does not support resizing its virtual storage devices. As a workaround, a new bigger VDI is created and the existing partition(s) are moved to the larger drive. This tutorial gives instructions on how to expand storage for Ubuntu Linux guest machine.
This solution was found in Ubuntu forums. It’s mostly a note to myself. Enable “Sync to VBlank” in NVidia xserver settings, under OpenGL Settings; Start CompizConfig settings manager, under General Options – Display Settings set the refresh rate to your monitor’s refresh rate.
